I love sharing my passion for Scottish country dancing by running sessions for people at workshops, weddings and other gatherings.
Offering my talents now for more than ten years with diverse groups at the Findhorn Foundation, as well as running classes in Portugal and Japan, and presenting workshops in London and Berlin, I am very well used to introducing the pleasures of Scottish country dancing to people who may not know this particular form, may even believe they can’t dance: that’s okay.
When I started dancing with the Gay Gordons in London, I was sure that I had two left feet, and yet it wasn’t long before I realised that great skills weren’t the point, enjoyment was. I was also recovering from serious mental health issues at the time, and Scottish dance was one of the few things that consistently lifted my mood, which is why my first memoir is called Scottish Country Dancing Saved My Life. And while I cannot promise that a session of James’s Dancing Scottish will save lives, I can guarantee that it will put a smile on every face and bring joy to any heart.
